Washer repair in Abilene, TX
Standing water, a drum that will not spin, a door that will not unlock or a washer walking across the laundry room. We find the fault, show you the part and give you the price before we start.
Why is my washer not draining or spinning?
A washer that will not drain is most often a clogged drain pump filter or a pump with a coin, sock or hair tie in it. A washer that will not spin is usually a worn drive belt, a failed lid switch or door lock, or a motor control problem. Neither one usually means you need a new washer.
Start with the easy checks. Unplug the machine, find the small drain filter behind the lower front panel on a front loader and clear it. Put a towel and a shallow pan down first, because the drum water comes out with it. Check that the drain hose is not kinked behind the washer.
If the display is showing a code, write it down. On LG machines OE points to a drain problem and UE to an unbalanced load. Samsung uses 5C or SC for drain faults and UE for balance. Whirlpool and Maytag often show F21 for a slow drain. Those codes narrow the search fast when you call us.

What washer problems do we fix most often?
Find your symptom below. The quick check is safe to try. If it does not solve it, we will have the part and the answer on the visit.
Washer will not drain
What you notice: Water sits in the drum at the end of the cycle and the door may stay locked.
Likely cause: A clogged drain pump filter, a failed drain pump or a kinked or blocked drain hose.
Check first: Unplug it, open the lower filter and clear it. Check the hose where it enters the standpipe.
Call us when: The filter is clear and the pump hums but does not move water, or you hear nothing at all.
Drum will not spin or spins slowly
What you notice: The cycle runs, water fills and drains, but clothes come out soaked.
Likely cause: A worn belt on a belt drive unit, a failed motor coupling, a door lock fault or an off balance load.
Check first: Redistribute the load and run a spin only cycle. Remove very heavy items like a comforter.
Call us when: The drum turns easily by hand but the motor never engages, or you smell burning rubber.
Washer shakes or walks across the floor
What you notice: Loud thumping on spin, the machine moving an inch each cycle.
Likely cause: Worn suspension rods or shock absorbers, unlevel feet or a load out of balance.
Check first: Level the feet with a bubble level and tighten the lock nuts. Wash bulky items alone.
Call us when: The drum drops or knocks when you push it side to side. That is a worn shock or spring.
Water leaking from the machine
What you notice: Water on the floor during fill or the end of the drain cycle.
Likely cause: A cracked fill hose, a loose pump hose clamp, a door boot tear or a worn tub seal.
Check first: Pull the machine forward and check both fill hose ends for drips. Inspect the door boot folds.
Call us when: The leak is coming from underneath the tub. That is a seal or bearing job and worth a proper quote.
Washer will not fill or fills slowly
What you notice: The drum stays dry, or the cycle starts with only a trickle.
Likely cause: A clogged inlet screen or a failed water inlet valve. Hard water scale is a frequent cause in Abilene.
Check first: Turn both water supply valves fully on. Remove each fill hose and clean the small screen at the inlet.
Call us when: The screens are clean and the supply is on but the valve does not open.
Door will not unlock or latch
What you notice: The cycle ends but the door stays locked, or the washer says the door is open when it is shut.
Likely cause: A failed door lock assembly, a bad latch or a leftover water level that blocks the unlock.
Check first: Wait five minutes, then unplug the machine for a minute to reset the board. Make sure no water is left.
Call us when: The door will not lock or unlock after a reset. It is a standard part we replace.
What makes washer repair different in Abilene?
Most washer failures here have a local reason behind them. Here is what we plan for on every washer call.
Hard water scale
Abilene water from Fort Phantom Hill, Hubbard Creek and O.H. Ivie runs hard, around 240 mg/L. Scale coats inlet screens, fill valves and heating parts, and builds in the hoses. Run a descaling or cleaning cycle every month or two and check the inlet screens once a year.
Laundry closets in 1950s and 60s homes
Many Elmwood and Abilene Heights homes have a laundry closet sized for a small agitator washer. A big front loader sits close to the walls, has little room to service and vibrates against the framing. We bring the right tools for tight spaces.
Slab foundations and out of level floors
West Texas soil moves. Homes on slab can develop a slight slope in the laundry room, and a front loader that is a quarter inch out of level will walk and bang on spin. Leveling the feet properly is the first fix.
Storm surges and control boards
Spring storms bring surges that damage electronic control boards. A basic surge protector on the washer outlet is a cheap protection. After a storm, a washer that is dead or shows odd codes is often a board that took a hit.
Rentals and student housing
Near ACU, Hardin-Simmons and McMurry, many rentals have hand me down machines. We repair them when the repair makes sense and tell landlords when it does not.
Should I repair or replace my washer?
Washers are one of the better machines to repair. A drain pump, door lock, belt or inlet valve costs far less than a new washer, and the rest of the machine usually has years left. A washer under about 10 years old with a single fault is a good repair.
Replace it when the tub bearing and seal have failed on an older unit, when the cabinet is rusted through, or when the repair quote nears half the price of a comparable new washer. We will say so honestly.
Use the repair or replace calculator on the home page to check your numbers.

Washer repair questions Abilene homeowners ask
How much does washer repair cost in Abilene?
Most repairs land between $120 and $350. The $79 diagnostic is credited to the repair when you approve it.
Why does my washer smell?
Mold and detergent build up in the gasket and drain. Wipe the door seal, leave the door open after loads and run a cleaning cycle monthly.
Why is water still in my washer after the cycle?
A drain pump clog, a kinked hose or a failed pump. Check the filter first.
Is it worth fixing a 10 year old washer?

Can you fix a stackable washer?
Yes, including tight stackable closets.
